Fixed Orthodontics Course - Tips for Beginners 2 - Easy Extraction

Orthodontic extraction are sometimes difficult with rotated or
multirooted teeth when the teeth or root fractures and you have to
remove quite a lot of alveolar bone for extracting the fractured
segments. An easy way out is to bond the teeth to be extracted with a
Begg bracket and use a 0.012 NiTi wire to engage this bracket with the
rest of the bracketed dentition. After 2 weeks, you can extract the
teeth easily. Remove the bracket and when you place the forceps and
apply apical pressure the teeth will just pop out of the socket due to
the orthodontic movement it has undergone as it was bracketed and
ligated.
