Did you know that having a perfectly aligned set of teeth can help improve your appearance? With the help of an orthodontist, you can not only get a more pleasing appearance but also stronger teeth and a healthier mouth. When you have crooked teeth or teeth that don’t fit together, it gets harder to keep them clean, which could lead to tooth decay and periodontal diseases. This causes extra stress on the chewing muscles, eventually leading to TMJ syndrome, headaches, back and shoulder pain.

The most commonly used form of these are removable braces which are non-fixed braces that consist of a plastic plate and wires. They correct the teeth gradually by applying gentle pressure. In some cases, the teeth may need more than just removable braces. This is where fixed braces are used. These are brackets and bands that are temporarily stuck to the teeth. The teeth are moved into place by using flexible wires that join all the brackets.

Only a dentist or an orthodontist can determine whether you need orthodontics treatment. Your dentist or orthodontist can also come up with a treatment plan for you, using diagnostic tools that consider your full dental health and medical history, a detailed clinical examination and other procedures.

Here are a few issues that indicate the need for immediate orthodontic treatment:

  1. Spacing
Spaces or gaps in between the teeth as a result of mismatch in their size corresponding to the jaw bone.

  1. Underbite
This is a condition where the lower teeth are too far forward, or the upper teeth are too far back.

  1. Overbite
It is caused when the upper front teeth are too far forward over the lower teeth. This is a condition that is otherwise known as buck teeth.

  1. Crowding
When there are more teeth than that a dental ridge can accommodate.

  1. Crossbite
In this, there is a lack of blockage, and the upper and lower front teeth cross each other when the jaw is closed normally.

  1. Open bite
This is caused when the lower and upper teeth are unable to make contact with each other when the jaws are closed.

  1. Misplaced Midline
This is caused when the center of your upper front teeth does not line up with the center of your lower front teeth

Childhood is the best time to get an orthodontics treatment, although there is treatment available even for adults and many have been opting for it. If you live in Dubai and are looking for a good orthodontist, there is a wide choice of several expert dental services that you can select from.
